Superglu and Myglu – Netvibes – Elgg wishlist

I signed up to Superglu

http://salvor.suprglu.com/

Also tried to work out Myglu I have my own server space and can set up cgi but I really do not understand what I am doing.

I think it is not for ordinary non technical users to set up their own Myglu but I can see that this could be good to have this possibility inside ELGG.  I will add this to my ELGG wishlist.  I also would like ELGG to have more possibilities to embed codes (I have not been able to paste in videos and sounds). I also can not see at this stage that Elgg has possibilities to export files (blogs etc.) and limited import possibilites. Because I believe in the learner at all times to have absolute control over their learning  materials/portfolio this is very important. If the product of learning is partly the structure you set up then you have to be able to carry that along with you when you move along, system like Elgg will  probably run mostly in school environments ant eventually students graduate. What happens then to their online stuff?

Elgg has some features that are useful but seem to be not used very much - partly because  at this stage in time there is only a minority that is skilled with handling feeds

I requested all my students this semester to have their own page on Netvibes.com with their feeds, their classmates feeds, their Writely documents, flickr photos, the teachers feed s and podcasts, their del.icio.us feeds etc.  But netvibes pages are not public at least I have not found a way to display it. But Superglu is very easy to make public. Netvibes is a more private learning space than Suprglu.
